Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore have announced officially through their social media handles that their captain Virat Kohli will be stepping down from captaincy after the conclusion of the ongoing season, i.e IPL 2021. This came as a shock to the entire cricket world and specially for the RCB fans for whom the world has come crashing down all of a sudden. However, Virat Kohli’s big decision has created somewhat of a Deja Vu effect for cricket enthusiasts all around the world.
Just a few days ago, the India skipper announced publicly that he will be stepping down from captaincy of India’s T20 team following the 2021 World Cup, which will be his last T20 tournament as the Indian captain. Leaving the captaincies of two major teams that have been so close to Virat’s heart has confused his fans and followers who now fear that in near future, Virat might give away the captaincy of the other two formats as well.
Virat Kohli has been a part of Royals Challengers Bangalore from the very first edition of IPL in 2008. He was made the captain of the team 5 years later in 2013 and has ever since been the leader and the face of the team. He will be discharged of his duties finally after 8 years of serving the franchise as the captain.

There is not doubt in the fact that Virat Kohli is the most famous and loved player in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad followed by AB De Villiers and he is also arguably the best player in the squad. However, the Indian skipper has not been very successful as a captain in IPL as he and the RCB team is yet to win an IPL trophy. They came very close on many occasions but never managed to finish the task off.
What Virat Kohli said

They also shared a video of Virat Kohli in which the captain said, “This will be my last IPL as captain of RCB. I’ll continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me.”
