Wayne Rooney makes a big prediction about Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo

Wayne Rooney Predicts Man Utd’s future: Manchester United were already looking strong contenders for the Premier League this season with the signings of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho. The late addition of their former man Cristiano Ronaldo, who returns to his boyhood club as one of the absolute legends of the game, has further strengthened their squads and according to Manchester United legend Wayne Roonet, they can now rightfully be called the favourites to win the Premier League title.

Wayne Rooney has previously worked closely with Cristiano Ronaldo during their time together at Manchester United when they won consecutive Premier League titles together between 2006 and 2009 and he knows how ‘Goal-oriented’ the Portuguese talisman is. Rooney thinks that Cristiano Ronaldo was the missing piece that Manchester United needed to redeem their ‘Glory Days’ and that now is the time.

Wayne Rooney has huge expectations from Man Utd after the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo

Speaking to TalkSport about the impact Cristiano Ronaldo might have on the team, Wayne Rooney said, “What impact will Ronaldo have? An enormous one, I think he’s still one of the best players in the world”

“I think we’ve seen in the game against Ireland that’s what he does. In the last couple of minutes he scores two goals, two great headers, so he can have a massive impact on this league.”

“I think United are finally ready to go and challenge for the title, and I really feel they have to this year,” Rooney added.

“[Ronaldo’s] going to be a big player, I think he’ll have very big moments in the season and I’m sure he’ll score a lot of goals.”

Cristiano Ronaldo will be wearing the No.7 jersey at Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo might be one of the oldest players in the current Manchester United squad but his physicality defies all odds and the Portuguese is still one of the fittest players in the sport and Rooney thinks that won’t hinder his success in his phase 2 with the Manchester Club.

“I follow Manchester United, I want them to do well, and I think it’s great for them that they’ve brought Cristiano back,” Wayne Rooney added.

“I think his mentality will rub off on the younger players especially, so I think it’s great timing.

“I think Cristiano will know himself it’s not going to be as simple or as straightforward as it was in Spain or in Italy for him.

“It’s a physical league, he knows, he’s played in it, so I’m sure he’s prepared and he’s ready to go and score goals again for Manchester United.”
