Gamr selected by Google’s Black Founders Fund

Gamr, a platform for African esports, has been chosen for the Google for Startups Black Founders Fund.

Gamr will receive non-dilutive money from the Founders Fund in the amount of $100,000 (£88,000), meaning its owners will not have to give up equity

Gamr will also get an additional $100,000 in Google Cloud credits to help the organisation out technically and by utilising all of Google's resources.

Gamr, which has been around for less than a year, already has a community of 89,000 users spread across 12 African countries

Through its app and web platform, it offers African gamers a platform for organising tournaments

Its all-black executive group is in charge of organising competitions like Techplus

Esports and fostering aspiring esports professionals by giving out prizes
