Who is Dusan Vlahovic: The Serbian Star-Kid who is wanted by Liverpool and Tottenham

Dusan Vlahovic is a Serbian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Fiorentina and the Serbia national team. Vlahović made his senior team debut on 11 October 2020, in a UEFA Nations League game against Hungary.

Vlahovic signed his first professional contract with Partisan in 2015, when he was only 15 years old. At the beginning of 2016, Vlahović joined the first team under coach Ivan Tomić and got the jersey number 9. He made his Serbian Super Liga debut in 2016 against OFK Beograd, as the youngest debutant in history of Partisan. Vlahović scored his first goal for Partisan against Radnich in 3–2 home win and became the youngest scorer in club history.

In June 2017, Vlahović signed a five-year preliminary contract with Fiorentina. In 2018, Vlahović made his debut for Fiorentina, in Serie A, in a 2–1 loss to Inter Milan. On August 2019, Vlahović scored his first goals with Fiorentina, a brace in a 3–1 win against Monza in the third round of the 2019–20 Coppa Italia.

Dusan Vlahovic is being highly linked with a move to Liverpool or Tottenham

Liverpool are interested in getting the signature of the Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, who impressed with the Serie A outfit last term. The 21-year-old bagged 21 goals in 37 appearances for Fiorentina in 2020/21. The Reds are joined in the race by Tottenham Hotspurs & AC Milan. The asking price for the 21-year-old is £52m. The striker’s current deal is due to expire in 2023, meaning an extension will keep him at The Stadio Artemio Franchi until at least 2024.

According to Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano: “Fiorentina are discussing a new contract with him, he still has 2 years left on his contract and they want a lot of money for the player to leave.”

According to the Italian website Calcio ln Pillole, Vlahovic has also reiterated his desire to stay in Italy this season: “I’m happy in Florence and work is the only way to success.

“Since the calendars came out, we have been thinking about the opening Serie A match against Roma.

“We will start immediately giving 200 per cent, we will do our best. I try to make myself available and to always learn. I hope to be able to do well again this year.”

According to Italian journalist Niccolo Misul, Vlahovic will extend his contract with Fiorentina, rather than join Liverpool or Premier League rivals Tottenham, who have also been linked with the striker.

Vlahovic has made no comment on wanting to make the switch to England, insisting he is happy where he is.

Vlahovic was in pre-season action for Fiorentina as they faced Italian fourth-tier side Foligno on Tuesday afternoon. The Serbian caught the eye of many again last weekend as the forward came off the bench to score 7 goals in just 34 minutes. Vlahovic only came on at half-time of the match with the score already at 3-0 in his team’s favour, he banged in seven as Fiorentina finished with an 11-0 victory.

After the match, many fans took to social media to acknowledge his sensational performance. Liverpool fans, knowing of Vlahovic’s links to the club took to social media to urge the club to bring the player to Anfield.

Dusan Vlahovic emerged as transfer target for Tottenham this summer, as they look for a backup for Harry Kane. According to the 90min, Daniel Levy has no intention of selling his prized asset this summer and is growing increasingly frustrated by the speculation surrounding Kane’s future. Instead, Spurs are keen provide backup to their main man as they work under the assumption, he will be at the club next season.
