That is why the West Indies board represents the countries that were mostly ex-British slave colonies in the Carribean area. Guyana is the only British colony in South America. It is affiliated with this board as they have a very common language and history.

It is similar to Cuba which is the biggest island in the Caribbean, it is not a part of the West Indies cricket team as Cuba was a Spanish slave colony, and it is not British.
