Wolves and Arsenal fight for a £17 million-rated signing

Wolves Transfer News: Reportedly, Wolves would ‘love’ to capture Wolfsburg’s Bundesliga phenom Ridle Baku, joining Premier League rivals Arsenal in their pursuit of the player. Nelson Semedo may soon pay the price for his erratic play over the last two seasons in Old Gold by losing his starting spot in Julen Lopetegui’s starting lineup.

Baku joins Sergino Dest, a misfit at Barcelona, on Wolves’ radar as they search for a new right-sided full-back. German newspaper Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung claims that Wolverhampton Wanderers are seriously considering a move for the £17 million-rated Baku this summer now that they have avoided relegation under former Spain and Real Madrid manager Lopetegui.

The 25-year-old Baku has been one of the most outstanding full-backs in the Bundesliga over the past year and a half, earning him four national team caps for Germany. This season, the athletic and offensively inclined former Mainz youth player has tallied five goals and three assists.

Baku has scored 16 goals in three years as a ‘defensive’ player for Wolfsburg. The Wolves, according to WAZ, would love the opportunity to bring Baku to the Black Country. Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that the Gunners are just as enthusiastic about the 5′ 9″ dynamo as the guys from Molineux.

Mikel Arteta may play more comfortably at right back if he moves to Baku. Ben White has been outstanding in a more central position, but he is at his best when playing centre-back. The 3-0 home loss to Brighton on Sunday proved his effectiveness against the rampaging Kaoru Mitoma.

Meanwhile, Baku isn’t hiding the fact that he wants to play in England’s top division. Meanwhile, Hasan Salihamidzic, director of Bayern Munich, confirmed that Baku was on the club’s radar not too long ago.
