Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has no desire to leave Elland Road this summer. The 25-year-old has improved in his game since Leeds got promoted to Premier League last season. The player got selected in Gareth Southgateโs England side for the EUROS. Kalvin Phillips has started in the midfield alongside Declan Rice in all of Englandโs matches in the tournament.
Phillips joined Leeds United’s youth academy at the age of 14. He progressed through the club’s youth ranks and signed his first professional deal with the club in the summer of 2014, retaining him for the 2014-15 season. In September 9,2019 Phillips signed a new five-year deal with the club.

The playerโs contract ends in the summer of 2024. Leeds had rejected multiple offers in excess of ยฃ20m from Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa. Marcelo Bielsaโs debut campaign had just ended in heartache after Leeds United lost to Derby County in the Championship play-off semi-final. Phillips shed tears for several days after that dramatic defeat but that he chose to stay at Leeds. Leeds promotion winning season in 2019-20 earned Phillips a entry into Gareth Southgateโs England squad before even playing in the premier league.
What has been said about Kalvin Phillips’ future at Leeds United

Kevin Sharp has told: “Before Kalvin signed his last contract, we had good interest so we sat down and explored all the pros and cons.
“His desire was never to leave; it was to be rewarded and stay and play for the team he supported as a kid.
“Within the contract he signed in September 2019, we included provisions within it for if Leeds reached the Premier League, so itโs all set up for the top flight.”
“We knew it was a bit of a gamble, but we knew Leeds would get there under Marcelo Bielsa and obviously they did.”
“There may be clubs who are actually looking at Kalvin now because the more successful you are โ playing for England in big tournaments โ naturally breeds interest.”
“But Kalvin is happy at Leeds and has no desire to move whatsoever. Itโs more a case of โcarry on what youโre doing for club and countryโ.”
He added: “Itโs not something weโre banging on the door to make happen because itโs about Kalvin playing and enjoying his football.
“But if Leeds want to improve that and protect their assets, for sure weโd be interested in sitting down with them. His value will increase and long may that continue.”
Leeds United earned their place in the Premier League last season after 16 years of absence. Phillips has over 213 appearances for the club in which he scored 13 goals and assisted 14 more. He has 30 appearances in Premier League last season.
Kieran Maguire, a football finance expert, tells i that, while Transfermarkt value Phillips at ยฃ27million, โthis is no way measures a player who is just 25 and has three years remaining on his contract.โ
Maguire adds: โDeclan Rice is valued at about ยฃ70-80million and Phillips must be worth that at least given his range of passing.
โLeeds United donโt need or want to sell and Phillips is a local lad who supports the club.”
โThis means there will have to be far more pull than push factors to take him from Elland Road, which could drive the price up further as has been seen with Jack Grealish at Villa.
โLeeds will almost certainly be sitting down with Phillips as soon as the Euros finish to reward him with a contract that puts him amongst the Premier Leagueโs elite earners.
โFrom a financial perspective, Leeds would be protecting the balance sheet by giving Phillips a rise and showing their long-term ambition.โ
โBut if Leeds want to improve that and protect their assets, for sure weโd be interested in sitting down with them. His value will increase and long may that continue.โ

Ian Thackray coached Phillips for seven seasons at Wortley Juniors before he signed for Leeds United.
โI read something recently about Kalvin being lined up by Liverpool, but Iโm hoping he stays at Leeds and goes on to captain the club,โ Thackray tells.
โIโm a season-ticket holder and it would upset me if Kalvin left Leeds for another Premier League side.
โBut I canโt imagine him ever leaving Leeds while Bielsa is still here.
โKalvin certainly isnโt going to join Manchester United because nobody in Leeds would ever talk to him again!
โHeโs one of the best players in the world right now in that defensive midfield position. In the next three years I think heโll be right at the top.โ
Michael Normanton, of The Square Ball fanzine, tells: โThe frustration in the past has been to see players such as Lewis Cook join a team like Bournemouth, but thatโs where we were as a club.
โIf Kalvin ever did leave Leeds, I think it would only be to an elite-level club, where Iโm sure he could double his money.
โBut I canโt see there being anywhere obvious that he would go and I would hope that Leeds are looking to tie him down on another long-term deal.
โI think Kalvin has surpassed even what Leeds fans thought he could achieve.
โYou look at the Germany game last week and he controlled one of the worldโs best midfielders in Toni Kroos.
โIf he can do that, where does Kalvinโs limit end? Under Bielsa, anything seems possible.โ
It is clear that Phillips has no intention to leave Leeds United at the moment. His agent said a few months ago that the player has โno desireโ to change shirts.
