The Varginha native is the daughter of judo and Jiu-jitsu teacher Marcelo Ribas, who teaches Muay Thai. She trained with her father until she was a member of one of Brazil’s national judo youth teams. She quit training and competing for several years because of knee issues. She began training and competing again after seeing several colleagues preparing for an MMA contest.

On July 7, 2017, Ribas was scheduled to face Juliana Lima at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale. However, USADA flagged Ribas for a possible anti-doping violation, and he was removed from the fight. The potential violation is based on a sample collected on June 7. Tecia Torres has taken her place. USADA initially placed a two-year suspension on her after she tested positive for Ostarine. Still, on May 3, 2019, the suspension was canceled after it was determined that the positive test resulted from an estuarine-tainted dietary supplement.

Amanda faced Emily Whitmire in her UFC debut on June 29, 2019, at UFC on ESPN 3. She won the fight in the second round with a rear-naked choke submission. Ribas fought Mackenzie Dern on October 12, 2019, at UFC Fight Night: Joanna vs. Waterson. She was declared the winner by a unanimous decision.
