Saul Niguez joins Chelsea on loan

According to SkySports, both the teams have reached a total agreement and Saul is going to sign for the European Champions for a year long deal. Chelsea will also have an option to buy the midfielder at the end of his services for a transfer fee of €35 million. As of now, the Blues will have to pay a loan fee of about €4 million to the La Liga champions for the services of Saul Niguez.

Saul Niguez had played a key part in Atletico Madrid lifting the La Liga trophy last season but with the arrival of Argentinian midfield maestro Rodrigo de Paul in their team, Saul Niguez was bound to have a lot of his game time cut. He was seemingly not ready to sacrifice game time and thus wanted a move to the Premier League. Spanish midfielders have stereotypically been very good in the Premier League from time immemorial and Saul will hope to keep that notion alive.

However, Manchester United were earlier considered to be the topmost contenders to bag Saul Niguez. But with the arrival of top players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho in the same transfer window, they lost grip on both Saul Niguez and Eduardo Camavinga. Unfortunately both of these players got new teams on the Deadline day.

Chelsea’s N’golo Kante and Jorginho have lately both been very injury prone and irregular in the playing XI. Saul might use this opportunity to cement his position on the Chelsea team. This signing definitely adds further to the squad depth the Chelsea FC.
