Fazel Atrachali Biography: Fazel Atrachali born on 29th March 1992 is an Iranian kabaddi player. He is a member of the Iranian National Kabaddi Team and plays for U Mumba in the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League. Fazel has set many records for the PKL to be ranked on the top of the leader boards in highest tackle points along with Manjeet Chhillar for two PKL seasons. He became the first defender from a foreign country to eclipse the score of 300 tackle points in PKL.

Fazel Atrachali Biography: Early Life

Fazel was born in Gorgan, Iran in a simple middle-class family. He had practicing many different sports from his childhood. He was fond of wrestling, but later due to unfavorable circumstances, he had to shift from wrestling to football.

He was an enthusiast for football and played many tournaments representing his school. Later, he shifted to kabaddi on the recommendation of the school kabaddi coach.

His fitness helped him to play the role of a defender in kabaddi. Soon, he made his own identity using his defending skills. His hard work and determination helped him get selected in the Senior Iranian National Kabaddi team and make his first debut in the 2010 Asian Games.

  • In 2010, he played a major role for the team to qualify for the finals but was conquered by the India team with a score of 20-37.
  • He was a part of the Iranian National team at the 2013 Asian Indoor Games where they were ranked 2nd.
  • Fazel was appointed as captain of the national team at the 2014 Asian Games where they were quite close in winning gold but were defeated by India in the finals.

  • Fazel started his PKL career representing U Mumba in season 2. He scored 1 raid point and 11 tackle points in 5 matches for the team in the 2nd season.
  • He retained with the team for the 3rd season and became a well-known public figure after scoring 1 raid point and 32 tackle points in 11 matches. He became the 2nd highest scorer for the U Mumba as a defender for the season with a 50% success rate.
  • In 2016, he was signed to Patna Pirates for the 4th season and helped the team win a PKL Title recognizing as the season’s best defender scoring 52 tackle points in 16 matches with 7 Super Tackles and 5 High 5s.
  • In the 5th season, he was bought by Gujarat Fortune Giants and led the team to the finals, but unfortunately were defeated by Patna Pirates in the finals. He scored 57 tackle points in 24 matches.
  • After the continuous high skilled performance and good scores, he was bought by U Mumba as a captain in the 6th season for Rupees 1 Cr becoming the most costly defender in the PKL history from a foreign country. He scored his personal highest 83 tackle points in 23 matches with 3 Super Tackles and 6 High 5s.
  • He remained with the team for the next season and under his captaincy, he led his team till the semi-finals scoring 82 tackle points in 24 matches with 5 Super Tackles and 4 High 5s.
