It must be noted that just today, Gattuso was discharged from his duties at Serie A side Fiorentina, just after 23 days of being appointed. He was supposed to be meeting his team !st July for the first time, but Italian manager left the club before he could conduct even a single training session. It is being rumoured that the growing tensions between Gattuso and Fiorentina’s president Rocco B. Commisso regarding his targets for this summer transfer window, was what ultimately forced the manager to leave the club.
Tottenham Hotspurs set to appoint Gennaro Gattuso as new head coach
As it now stands, both Tottenham Hotspurs and Gennaro Gattuso are in dire need of each other- Gattuso needs a club to manage, and Spurs need to find a manager soon as there is less than 2 months left in the commencement of the upcoming Premier League season.
Tottenham Hotspurs were initially very close to signing former Inter coach Antonio Conte as their new manager but later the deal broke off as Tottenham Hotspurs chairman Daniel Levy could not promise to provide Conte with the funds he asked for for the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspurs were interested in bringing back their former coach Mauricio Pochettino who is currently the manager of Serie A side Paris Saint Germain. They were also rumoured to be interested in Ajax Amsterdam head coach Erik ten Hag. However, both of these moves will be complicated and Tottenham Hotspurs need to fill in their manager’s spot quickly with the Premier League 2021-22 knocking at our doors.
However, Daniel Levy cannot make a hasty decision in appointing the new manager their star striker Harry Kane’s future at the club will depend a lot on it. The English striker has made it clear that he wants his way out of the club as he wants to compete for trophies, which does not seem to be possible with Spurs. Although Chairman Daniel Levy has stressed upon the fact that he will not let his most important player leave the club, it will be not easy for him to convince Harry Kane, if he has made up his mind. Only a good project can lure the prolific goalscorer at staying and for that, they will need a good manager.
Will Gattuso be the right person to convince Harry Kane to stay? Only time can tell.
