2016:
In 2016, Harmanpreet Singh was named in the Indian squad for 2016 Olympics. He gave a very bad performance in the tournament. He failed to score a single goal. Because of that he was dropped from the team for Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2016 and 4 Nationals Invitaional Tournament after a disastrous Olympics campaign.
2020:
He has a stellar performance in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. He scored against New Zealand in a 3-2 win. Then found the net again against Australia in a 7-1 victory. he couldn’t scored against Spain, India a 3-0 win, and against Argentina in a 3-1 victory. Although he scored twice against Japan, India won 5-3. Harmanpreet scored twice against Great Britain, helping India win 3-1.
Singh scored again against Belgium in the semifinals, but India lost 5-2. In the bronze medal match, Harmanpreet scored twice against Germany, securing a 5-4 win for India. His consistent performance throughout the tournament was instrumental in guiding India to their first Olympic medal in 41 years.

Harmanpreet Singh was officially nominated as the captain of the Indian men’s hockey team for the Paris Olympics 2024. He led the Indian men’s hockey team to a bronze medal win against SPain on 8th August 2024. He earned the moniker of Sarpach Sahib of Hockey by the media because of his amazing performance and captaincy at the Olympics.
