James Milner has started property searching in Brighton after verbally agreeing to go there from Liverpool

According to sources, James Milner has started property searching in Brighton after verbally agreeing to go there from Liverpool. When his contract with Anfield ends next month, the 37-year-old will join Roberto De Zerbi’s team for free.

Milner reportedly agreed to join Brighton verbally on a one-year deal last week (5 May), according to Football Insider. The veteran midfielder reportedly wants to leave Merseyside and settle down on the South Coast.

After leaving Manchester City for free in 2015, Milner joined Liverpool. He has scored 26 goals in 329 games for Liverpool and has helped the team win the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.

Milner has made 39 appearances for Liverpool this season across all competitions, proving that his age isn’t holding him back from being a valuable squad option for Jurgen Klopp. Klopp said he hopes to continue working with the former England international for “even longer,” as reported by the BBC (5 May).

Football Insider (7 May) reports, however, that former Reds player Adam Lallana was instrumental in persuading Milner to depart for Brighton this summer. It was also reported here on Monday (9 May) that Everton had made a last-ditch effort to get Milner, but the veteran had already turned down their offer.

The former Leeds and Aston Villa great has to play in 37 more Premier League games than Gareth Barry did to break the record. Due to the fact that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita will both be free agents after next month, Liverpool intends to make significant changes to their midfield this summer.
