Jason Behrendorff puts faith in Rohit Sharma to regain his form with two good shots

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season captain for the Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma, is suffering through a terrible slump in form. So far in this league, Rohit has played 11 games but has only scored 191 runs.

Even in Mumbai’s penultimate match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he continued to perform poorly. On May 9th, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, in Game 54 of the tournament, the two teams squared off against one another. When Rohit came in to bat in an attempt to chase down a target of 200 runs, Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed him for just seven runs.

Jason Behrendorff, a fast bowler for the Mumbai Indians, commented on the captain’s slump and encouraged him to swiftly regain form. He also shared his opinion that he has been doing a great job of striking the ball in practice.

“I love the intent Rohit came out with; he sort of stepped down the wicket and took the bowlers on, which was really good to see. He is hitting the ball really well in the nets, but it has not translated well at the moment out in the middle. But, we know how good Rohit is; he is an absolute class player, and he might just need a couple of good shots to bounce back to really good form,” Behrendorff said in the post-match press conference.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore finished the first inning with 199 runs on the board. Ishan Kishan, Nehal Wadhera, and Suryakumar Yadav were unbelievable for the five-time victors as they came in to chase the runs.

Ishan Kishan opened for MI and scored 42 runs off 21 balls. Suryakumar Yadav was the catalyst for the team’s stunning victory. The match was won by six wickets for Mumbai thanks to the efforts of the 32-year-old’s 83 runs off just 35 deliveries and Nehal Wadhera’s amazing half-century of 52 runs off 34 balls.
