Liverpool Transfer News: Liverpool’s €100M bid for Federico Chiesa rejected by Juventus

Liverpool’s offer for Federico Chiesa rejected: Liverpool have made a shocking €100m bid to Juventus for Federico Chiesa this summer. It is reported that the Juventus chief- Andrea Agnelli has turned down the offer. The Reds’ interest in the Juventus man emerged at the start of the month after his impressive showings at Euro 2020. His eye-catching performances in the UEFA Euro 2020 has attracted the attention of many big clubs in Europe.

According to Calciomercato, earlier this month the six-time champions have requested information about the 23-year-old. Chelsea have also registered an interest in the player. Christian Falk from Bild in fact reported that Chelsea had more than a passing interest in Federico Chiesa. In fact, Falk suggested Chelsea lodged an offer of €100m, which the Old Lady have rejected out of hand.

According to Italian paper Repubblica, Liverpool have offered €100m, which would have made it the joint-eighth most expensive deal of all time, matching those which took Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. That purported price would have made Federico Chiesa the second-most expensive player of all time to move to a Premier League team, after Paul Pogba’s transfer to Manchester United, but the Italian giants are said to have turned the Reds down.

The Old lady have turned down both bids from the Premier League clubs. Cheisa would have become the second most expensive transfer in the Premier League after Paul Pogba. Juve officials have admitted that Fedrico Chiesa is included in Massimiliano Allegri long term plans and is almost ‘untouchable’. Massimiliano Allegri, who returned to the club in May on a four-year deal two years after leaving, is said to consider Federico Chiesa ‘non-transferable’, with club president Andrea Agnelli backing that decision.

The Old Lady has already spent €10m on a two-year loan for Federico Chiesa that began last season. They then have an obligation to buy Chiesa next summer for €40m from Fiorentina. With bonuses included, the total cost to the Italian side is set to be around €60m. But even though they could make an instant €40m on the forward, they are not keen to sell.

The 23-year-old is considered one of the hottest properties in Europe after a series of excellent performances at this summer’s European Championship tournament.

Liverpool are exploring other options in the market with Jarrod Bowen the recent link with the Reds. West Ham United are looking for a fee of around £35m for the winger. Bowen joined the Hammers from Hull City in January 2020 for £22m and his performances last season have caught the interest of Klopp. Bowen is contracted at the London Stadium until the summer of 2025, but the Merseyside club’s interest won’t come as a surprise to Hammers boss David Moyes, who claimed he’s not far away from an England call-up.

“Jarrod’s a player where I think there’s room to improve,” said Moyes. “He can step up again. He’s got another level to go to and I hope we can do that in the next year or two.

“If he can continue with his form, if he can keep his goals tally up, he’ll not be levels away from being close to England squads.”
