Manuel Locatelli joins Juventus on a 5-year deal: Check when he plays his first match for the Bianconeri

Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli has completed his inter Serie A loan move (with an obligation to buy) from Sassuolo to Juventus in a deal which might be worth up to €37.5 million. The 23-year old had impressed citizens through his performances at Euro 2020 wherein he helped the Azzurri’s win the European Championship. He has since then been targeted by the Serie A giants.

Manuel Locatelli arrived at Turin’s Continassa training centre on Wednesday where he completed his medicals and signed his contract that would keep the midfielder at Juventus till 2026.

Manuel Locatelli joins Juve: Terms of the deal

So how much did Locatelli cost Juventus? The Biaconeri have signed the 23-year old on an initial loan of two years (till 2023) post which they will be obligated to buy him for a fee of €25 million which Sassualo will receive over the next three years starting from 2023.

Locatelli has also agreed on performance related objectives on the completion of which he will be receiving an additional bonus of €12.5 million.

Manuel Locatelli’s past experiences

Manuel Locatelli started his senior career at AC Milan from where Sassuolo first loaned him and then bought him on a permanent deal after a year.

Locatelli played 99 games for Sassuolo in total, scoring 7 goals and 11 assists. With his in the team, Sassuolo made significant improvements in their ranking and secured successive 8th place finishes in Serie A.

As mentioned earlier, Locatelli was also a part of Italy’s Euro 2020 winning squad and it was his brace against Switzerland that helped the Azzurri’s qualify for the knockouts.

When will Locatelli play his first match for Juventus

Juventus kickoff their 2021-22 Serie A season on 22nd August against Udinese and it is highly unlikely that Locatelli will find a spot in the playing XI for that match. He can, however, be included in the squad by Massimiliano Allegri and can thus make his debut in the match as a substitute.

However, there are high chances of him featuring in Juve’s second match against Empoli as a starter. Juventus face Empoli on 29th August.
