Manuel Ugarte of Sporting CP is a player that Newcastle United would want to add to their roster for the next season

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Manuel Ugarte in the forthcoming transfer window, as reported by Record through SportWitness. They are set to make an offer for the 22-year-old Sporting midfielder in the coming weeks after showing interest in him for some time.

Ugarte transferred to Sporting CP from Famalicao in the summer of 2021. Over the previous several seasons, he has steadily improved. And there are a number of teams who would want to add him to their roster.

The Uruguayan international has played in 83 games for the Portuguese club, contributing to four goals. 45 of this season’s total games have included Ugarte on the field. For Sporting, he has been indispensable in the middle of the pitch.

The 22-year-old is set to be traded this summer, despite the fact that his contract with Sporting CP continues until the summer of 2026. In the forthcoming transfer window, he might leave for a more prestigious club if they meet the €60 million release clause in his contract.

As a result of this, the Portuguese club hoped to offer him a new deal with a significantly larger release clause of roughly €80 million. The player, though, is not keen on putting pen to paper just yet. Even he would want to join a group working on a more massive and far-reaching endeavour.

Sporting is trying to buy out Uruguayan club Fenix’s remaining rights to the player before they sell him to Newcastle United this summer.

The current season has been fantastic for the Magpies. They will most likely compete in the UEFA Champions League next season. In order to remain competitive in both competitions next season, manager Eddie Howe is looking to add to his team’s depth in the offseason.

He suggests adding more guards to the park’s central area. The 22-year-old is a top priority, and they want to take him away from Portugal at any cost. He’ll be a solid presence in front of the defence for Newcastle. In the next few weeks, the club is planning to make an offer for the Uruguayan international player.

To have any chance, though, they will need to pay close to €60 million. After failing to improve his release clause recently, Sporting will only let him depart for an offer similar to his current one.
