On May 15, 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 34 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match. The win qualified GT for the playoffs of the IPL 2023. Meanwhile, after this loss, SRH had little chance of making the postseason.
GT’s victory against SRH was largely due to the efforts of pacer Mohammed Shami. At an economy rate of 5.25, he took four wickets in crucial situations. Shami gave up just 21 runs in his allotted four overs. Mohit Sharma, in addition to Shami, took four wickets.
On Tuesday (May 16), the India fast bowler posted photos from his team’s match against SRH on Twitter. No trip is complete without real peers, he said besides a photo of himself, Afghan all-rounder Rashid Khan and the rest of the squad. With 23 wickets each in 13 games, Shami and Rashid rank atop and second on the IPL 2023 Purple Cap list, respectively.
