IPL 2023: After a thrilling encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans, the league stage of the IPL 2023 came to a rousing conclusion, with the Mumbai Indians being the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs.
To give you an idea of how difficult the competition is in the Toughest T20, consider that GT defeated RCB in the last league game of the tournament and then MI clinched the fourth and final playoff spot.
Both GT and Chennai Super Kings ended in first and second place, giving them a second chance to progress to the final. On May 23 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, they will face each other in the first round of the qualifiers. On the next day, the Eliminator match between MI and Lucknow Super Giants would take place.
On May 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the losing team from Qualifier 1 will play the victor of Eliminator in Qualifier 2, the winner setting up a championship match against the winning team from Qualifier 1 on May 28 in Ahmedabad.
On Sunday, MI’s top batting order led the way to a victory in a high-scoring home encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Cameron Green, making his debut in the IPL, lived up to the hype, scoring his first IPL century with the winning stroke for MI, and therefore serving as a warning to LSG in advance of the playoff game.

During his appearance on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Irfan Pathan expressed his views on Cameron Green’s performance after Mumbai Indians’ significant investment in him during the IPL Auction. Pathan stated that Green lived up to expectations as a powerful hitter and possesses the potential to be a game-changer for Mumbai Indians. Pathan recommended that Green should be given the opportunity to bat at number three in the upcoming matches, considering the challenging batting conditions expected in Chennai and Ahmedabad, unlike the more favourable conditions at Wankhede. Pathan further suggested that Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) could be slotted in as the number four batsman on slower pitches.
