Vitor Ribeiro Career
Vitor Ribeiro is a skilled wrestler. He has won the CBJJ Mundials (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship) four times, once as a purple belt in 1996 and three times in three consecutive years as a black belt (1999, 2000, and 2001). In 2000 and 2003, he competed in the ADCC World Championship. After a brief absence from mixed martial arts, Ribeiro returned to competition at DREAM 8, where he defeated former Olympic wrestler Katsuhiko Nagata via TKO. His next fight at DREAM 10 was a unanimous decision loss to Shinya Aoki.
On September 24, 2009, it was announced that he had signed a multi-fight contract with Strikeforce. On May 15, 2010, Ribeiro made his promotional debut against the undefeated Lyle Beerbohm and lost by split decision. Ribeiro’s next Strikeforce bout occurred at Strikeforce Challengers: Wilcox vs. Ribeiro against Justin Wilcox. A unanimous decision in the fight defeated him. Ribeiro announced his retirement from mixed martial arts competition on August 8, 2013.
In 2015 Ribeiro began working as a referee for mixed martial arts events. On April 18, 2015, he debuted as a referee for UFC events at UFC on Fox: Machida vs. Rockhold.
