Aakash Chopra makes a huge statement on Rohit Sharma

India’s star opening batsman Rohit Sharma is an integral part of India’s limited-overs team in recent years. This was again evident from the fact that India lost the first two ODI’s against Australia by a huge margin. In the first ODI, India lost the match by 66 runs while chasing a total of 374 runs, while in the second game they lost by 51 runs while chasing a target of 390 runs.

Former India opener Aakash Chopra while speaking about India’s defeat said that India is missing Rohit Sharma. Chopra feels that Rohit’s presence as an opener would have helped the team take a bolder approach while chasing such big totals. He also said that the Indian team was not at their best, considering the runs they had to chase.

“The Indian batting line-up left a lot to be desired in a sense that there were too many runs on the board. If Rohit Sharma had been there, we would have played more boldly but if he is not there, then there is a loss. If you need to score more than 350, then you need Rohit Sharma, especially in a run chase,” said Aakash Chopra in a video on his YouTube channel.

India’s star opener Rohit Sharma had to sit out of the series, as he suffered a hamstring injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020. Currently, he is training in National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, and BCCI is making plans to make him available for the Test series against Australia.

Aakash Chopra comments on KL Rahul’s batting position.

Aakash Chopra also feels that Team India is not utilising the full potential of wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul by playing him at number 5. Chopra feels that Rahul should open the innings along with Shikhar Dhawan. He feels that Rahul will get India off to a decent start and can also play his natural game.

Rahul got out for 12 runs in the first ODI and scored 76 runs off 66 deliveries in the second ODI but failed to take India home.
