Barcelona presidential candidates split on the major voting issue

Josep Maria Bartomeu submitted his resignation and emptied the position of the president of the Barcelona board. His board members also resigned in order and the Catalan club continues to remain in a transition. Captain and star man Lionel Messi is quite content with Bartomeu leaving as he wanted the same in the summer transfer window and threatened to leave the club otherwise. The 6-time Balon D’or winner stayed at Camp Nou to lead Ronald Koeman’s team but was still pissed at the way his best friend Lui Suarez was treated.

Barcelona sold Suarez to Atletico Madrid for about 6 million euros but Koeman did not decide if the striker would face the ax. Instead, the Dutch manager wanted the Uruguayan to stay at the club and prove his worth. Suarez was all tears in his farewell conference announcing his end to 6 years stay at the Catalan outfit. Messi took the situation to Instagram as he wished his best mate good vibes for his future but also criticized the Barca board for not giving the 33-year-old the farewell he deserves.

Now that Bartomeu has left a void, there are some subtle candidates emerging to lead the club with their ideologies and future plans for the progress of the Blaugrana. Victor Font is the most favorable candidate but Jordi Farre wants to give him a tough fight along with Toni Freixa and Agustí Benedito.

The ruckus over the voting method ahead of fresh elections for Barcelona

Barcelona will have the fresh elections early which was previously scheduled for March 2021. The candidates are out there all for themselves but they have formed factions for and against one methodical decision. It is yet to be decided if the voting is supposed to occur via electronic voting or not, as per Mundo Deportivo.

Font and Farre have supported the notion and would like to see an election take place as soon as possible. However, Benedito is critical of the electronic voting system. Freixa also tweeted the unjust means to be used in the presidential elections. Former manager Joan Laporta expressed his wish to run for the elections this term but is yet to be added to the final list of candidates. The scenes are yet to be sorted and the disparity remains constant. Laporta has experience in taking control of the club and has signed epic players during 2005-2011 which include Ronaldinho and Eto’o.
