Chelsea is close to signing Achraf Hakimi this summer with the club offering players in exchange. Inter Milan want 68M euros for the Moroccan defender. Chelsea have offered 60M along with Marcus Alonso & David Zappacosta. Inter are willing to take players as part of any deal and Marcos Alonso and David Zappacosta are being discussed during negotiations. Chelsea are offering players to reduce Inter’s asking price.
They have joined Emerson Palmeiri and Andreas Christiansen as options and Sky Sport Italia reported that Alonso in particular is a name Inter are interested, along with Zappacosta. Alonso was also Atletico Madrid’s target in the past. The player played as a backup left back option for Tuchel’s side due to the arrival of 24 year old Ben Chilwell from King Power Stadium last summer. David Zappacosta played the last season on loan with Genoa. The player was loaned in two consecutive seasons and played for Roma & Genoa. According to Sky Sports Italia, The Blues are leading the race to sign Achraf Hakimi despite PSG being heavily involved in the deal.
Inter bought Achraf Hakimi from Real Madrid for 40M euros with a five-year contract. He was loaned to Borussia Dortmund between 2018-20 from Santiago. Hakimi had a sensational season with Inter scoring 7 goals in 37 league appearances. He also helped Inter win the Serie A title after 11 years.
But Inter are willing to make significant financial cuts following the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which led to Conte leaving his job just last month. Conte left the club because his plans did not match with the club’s intentions. Conte wanted to continue with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Christian Eriksen, Achraf Hakimi, Laurato Martinez and more.
“FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Antonio Conte for the termination of his contract by mutual consent,” read a club statement.
“The club would like to thank Antonio for the extraordinary work that he has done, culminating in Inter’s 19th top-flight title. Antonio Conte will forever remain a part of our club’s history”.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, who report that the Moroccan is ready to move to England and hopes a deal can be concluded soon.
Chelsea battling with PSG to sign Achraf Hakimi
The Blues made their first official bid for the wing-back last week. Chelsea announced their interest in Achraf Hakimi’s services by offering a 60M fee, as reported by Sky Sports Italia.
That opening offer of 60M euros saw Chelsea match PSG’s opening bid, which was knocked back by Inter Milan.
Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano has hinted that the former Real Madrid man will be the next big-name to leave Inter this summer, following the recent exit of former manager Antonio Conte.
“The only one who is going to leave Inter for now is Achraf Hakimi who is also representing him,” Camano said.
“We have to work on the Lautaro issue but there is still no clear situation.”
It is rare sight for a club that has won a major championship recently to part ways with one of its key players.
