Arsenal Transfer News: Kieran Tierney close to signing a new 5-year deal with the Gunners

Scottish International Kieran Tierney is on the verge of signing a new 5-year deal with his current side Arsenal. The deal, if it goes through, will tie Tierney’s future at the Emirates stadium, which is a well anticipated move, considering the fact that the Gunners are seeing the Scottish defender as their future captain.

Kieran Tierney arrived at Arsenal in 2019 from Celtic at a transfer fee of €27 Million. It was quite a bargain, given the inflated phase that the market was going through at that time. Fascinating how in just 2 years, the 24 year old has turned himself into a key player at Arsenal.

Kieran Tierney’s potential has been recognised by many football greats. Mikel rteta had said last year that, “The right words to describe Kieran [Tierney] would be determination, passion and energy – that’s what he is about.”

Arteta said: “He is determined in every action, and puts it all into every game and the energy levels he provides to the team.

What Alex Ferguson said about Kieran Tierney

The Boss, Alex Ferguson had agreed to Arteta’s words about Kieran Tierney in a youtube podcast.

“I am optimistic,” he said, speaking to the official YouTube channel of the Scotland national team ahead of the summer tournament.

“Players that are playing in England – [Kieran] Tierney has been absolutely fantastic at Arsenal, absolutely fantastic, [Andy] Robertson the last two years at Liverpool has been unbelievable.”

In the words of Alan Shearer, “He provided everything you want from a modern full-back, scoring a brilliant goal and setting up another while also helping his team keep a clean sheet.”

Kieran Tierney is probably the most gifted left back in the premier league right now after Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson. He is just 24, and has a bright future ahead. A contract renewal, and a big one, was the only plausible option.

Arsenal will probably have a busy transfer window ahead. With Tierney’s extension sorted, they will have at-least one less thing to worry about. Mateo Guendouzi and William Saliba, who had just joined them last season, are on the verge of a loan move out of London. However, the club is also looking into the possibility of a permanent transfer for both. Marseille are currently the only club interested in buying both the players combined.

But the club owners have a bigger problem than the transfer window itself. The fans want the american owners out of their club and they are protesting against them. In a situation of turmoils, securing the signatures of their future captain is a sigh of relief for the Gooners.
