Eduardo Camavinga: Manchester United and Bayern Munich to battle it out for the French midfielder

Manchester United & Bayern Munich are interested in signing Stade Rennais’s midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. The 18-year-old has been on Bayern’s radar over the past 12 months. Manchester United recently announced the signing of Jadon Sancho on Friday. The winger has been linked with the Red Devils over a year now. United are also linked with Leon Goretzka with the players contract ending in less than a year now.

According to the Mirror, representatives from Manchester United are set to begin discussions with Eduardo Camavinga’s camp at some point this week because the understanding is that Goretzka will stay at Bayern despite the fact that he’s yet to sign a new contract with Bayern.

At Bayern, it’s going to be a long summer of contract negotiating with Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, and Kingsley Coman. There is strong pressure from Coman’s camp to get him a move somewhere in the Premier League, though United has not outwardly expressed their interest in the winger.

A number of clubs are said to be eyeing a move for Eduardo Camavinga this summer, but the 18-year-old has left United fans excited after reacting to news of Sancho’s arrival.

The Rennes midfielder liked an Instagram post confirming the move of the England international, which did not go unnoticed.

Despite constant reports suggesting the teenager will soon be on his way out of the French league, Rennes sporting director Florian Maurice has admitted that nothing has yet been decided.

Speaking to Ouest France, he said: “For the moment, we don’t have an agreement on one side or the other. For the moment, Eduardo is here.”

“There are discussions that exist between the clubs, with the player as well. We still haven’t found a solution.”

“Either we find a way to extend his contract, or a club is interested in Eduardo and we’ll reflect on the proposal that we’re given.

Camavinga spoke about his future to TF1 in May.

“My future? I’ve not yet thought it over with my family. I am first concentrating on Rennes,” Eduardo Camavinga said.

“Real Madrid and Bayern Munich interest is something nice, I can’t lie. It’s nice that big clubs have interest, but I’m not focused on that”

Eduardo Camavinga’s contract with the Rennes expires on June 2022. That means the player will be free to go next summer. Rennes might lose the opportunity of getting a transfer fee if they are unable to sell him this summer. Camavinga has chosen not to renew his contract with the club despite the board highly interested in extending his deal. The asking price of the 18-year-old is €40m.

Javi Martinez has already left the club, and Corentin Tolisso’s future is also in question in Bayern’s midfield, so it’s an area of the pitch that Julian Nagelsmann needs to think off. Manchester United have their eyes on a new candidate that has emerged on Friday, Goretzka. According to Bild the midfielder is out of contract in 2022. United have been alerted to the fact the German international has yet to agree an extension with the Bundesliga side with talks stalling between both parties. Both the clubs will face challenges from each other to sign the midfielder given the current scenarios at the respective club.

According to the Mirror, Goretzka’s wage demands are giving Bayern a ‘headache’ as the attacking midfielder wants to be among the club’s top earners alongside Leroy Sane following his move from Man city. Bayern are also struggling extend the contracts of Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich.
