Gautam Gambhir Reveals Who Should Replace Raina At Number 3 Spot.

Gautam Gambhir talks about who should replace Suresh Raina at number 3: Suresh Raina’s decision to pull out of upcoming IPL on Saturday dented the whole Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This came as a big shock for the entire cricket fraternity. They were eager to see Raina in action for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, especially after he decided to announce his retirement from international cricket.

BCCI already confirmed that 13 members of the CSK have tested positive for Coronavirus. So, the team suffered a heavy setback before the start of the IPL. Now, they have a big spot to feel after the departure of Raina. Raina has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings for the last twelve seasons.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir feels that the CSK skipper MS Dhoni should promote himself to No. 3. In the Star Sports’ Cricket Connected show, Gambhir said that Dhoni should bat at the No. 3 position. He has tons of experience and hence could anchor the innings, batting at No. 3. CSK could spark off to a good start with the bat, with Dhoni batting at No. 3. Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo and Sam Curran are the ones who should follow him in the batting order.

Gautam Gambhir feels that Raina’s absence will be a great opportunity for someone like MS Dhoni.

“It will be a good opportunity for MS Dhoni to come and bat at no. 3. And he has been away from the game for the last one year, so he would end up getting a lot more balls to face and then he can play the anchor innings as well which he has been doing for India for the last couple of years,” said Gambhir.

“So, MS Dhoni at No. 3 and then they have got depth with Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Sam Curran, all those guys they can come in. So, I think it is going to be a great opportunity for someone like MS Dhoni and I am sure he is going to relish that. Also, Suresh Raina not being there, you want to have some experienced player batting at No. 3, so it could be MS Dhoni now,” he further said.

The BCCI was looking to announce the official fixture of the IPL 2020, by the end of August. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was going to face the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the upcoming match. However, BCCI had to delay the announcement, keeping in mind the situation of the Chennai Super Kings. It is expected that Chennai Super Kings will be given extended time and there will be a change in the opening match.

CSK players will have to wait before they start their training sessions. The COVID-19 infected members will remain in isolation for two more weeks. Then, they will again have various rounds of PCR tests.
