He plays for Delhi domestic cricket and he is now also playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. He made his official first-class cricket debut for the Delhi cricket team in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy in February 2022.

Yash Dhull Biography

Yash Dhull has played for the Indian national under-19 cricket team which also includes India’s winning side at the 2022 ICC under-19 Cricket World Cup and 2021 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. He was officially named as the captain of India’s team for the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies in December 2021.

Yash Dhull Career

Yash Dhurll started playing cricket when he was just 11 years old. He led the Delhi Under-14 and Under-16 cricket teams. He has played under-19 cricket for Delhi. Dhull made his first-class debut on 17th February 2022 against Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy. In that match, he scored a century in both of his innings. According to the reports, before making his official debut, he was bought by Delhi Capitals in the 2022 IPL auction ahead of the 2022 IPL.

As per the reports, Dhull finished the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy as Delhi’s highest run scorer and he scored a total of 479 runs at an average of 119.75. Reports suggest that he made his Twenty20 debut for Delhi against Manipur on 11th October 2022 in the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Then he made his List A debut for Delhi against Vidarbha on 12th November 2022 in the 2022-23 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

It has been known that Yash Dhull not only led his team to the 2022 U19 Cricket World Cup title but also managed with his batting performance in a side that was effectively a cauldron overflowing with great talent. Dhull properly finished the tournament with 229 runs from four innings at an impressive average of 76.33 and his tally included a century against Australia which turned the heads of a lot of people.

In January 2024, news came out that Uash Dhull had been removed as the captain of Delhi. Later on, it became known that the victorious India U-19 skipper had been relieved of the responsibility so that he could focus more on his batting. He was removed as Delhi Ranji Trophy team captain. It happens after their shocking 9-wicket loss to Pondicherry in the opening game of the 2023-24 tournament. In that match, he scores 2 and 23 in the Group D picture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Because of that, the decision was taken that the young cricket players need to focus on their batting. After that Dhull went through a very tough spell in the 2022-23 Ranji season also. Reports have shown that he contributed just 270 runs in a total of 6 games at an average of 27 with a top score of 72 as his team failed.

On this decision, Delhi coach Devang Gandhi said, it was the selector’s call. For Yash Dhull, getting runs is the most important thing. He is the future of Delhi cricket and he needs to be taken care of. If anything that helps him concentrate on his batting and chasing runs should be prioritized. He does not need distractions off the field.

Yash Dhull is currently playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. He is playing as a batsman. In the auction, he was bought by Delhi Capitals for 50 Lakhs Rupees. He is an uncapped Indian cricket who is a right-handed batsman and he is also an occasional right-arm off-spinner. Delhi Capitals bought him over with his base price after a short bidding war with Punjab Kings.
