Gautam Gambhir wants Dinesh Karthik to make these changes ahead of their next match

IPL 2020 News: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost their second match in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). From their first four matches, KKR ahs lost two matches and lost two matches. They failed to chase down the total of 229 runs against Delhi Capitals at Sharjah on Saturday. Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 228 runs in their 20 overs, riding on the 88 runs inning from captain Shreyas Iyer.

KKR did not have any good partnership at the top. Sunil Narine suffered yet another failure at the opening position. Shubman Gill scored 28 runs off 22 balls before he was dismissed in the ninth over.

Nitish Rana tried to bring the chase on track with blistering innings of 58 runs off 35 balls, but never found an able ally at the other end. Both Andre Russell and captain Dinesh Karthik did not score many runs. After the fall of the sixth wicket, Eoin Morgan (44 runs) and Rahul Tripathi (36 runs) tried their level best to pull off a miracle. However, they did not succeed and KKR ended up with 210 runs in their 20 overs. (IPL 2020 News)

“Rahul Tripathi goes up the order, Dinesh Karthik plays at No. 6, not before Morgan and not before Russell as well,” Gambhir told ESPNCricinfo“Probably Sunil Narine goes to bat at eight or nine. If Morgan bats at four and Russell at five, that’s the right position for both of them and Dinesh Karthik to follow.”

Gambhir also criticised captain Karthik to ask leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy to bowl in the 19th over. Varun gave away 20 runs in that over, and Delhi Capitals could easily move past the 200 runs mark. “Your best bowlers need to be bowling the 18th, 19th and 20th over and unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine – if a spinner has to bowl,” he said.

“You got to back young Mavi as well, he did a fabulous job in the previous games and so did Andre Russell. You have to got to give it your best bowlers. Yes, Varun Chakravarthy did bowl well in the first few overs but you cannot expect a young spinner to be bowling the 19th over and that too in Sharjah,” added Gambhir. (IPL 2020 News)
