Fabrizio Romano confirms Raphael Varane’s transfer

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, an agreement is almost done between Manchester United & Real Madrid just some final detail to be completed and then paperwork’s to be signed. Varane has agreed with personal terms too.

United held ‘positive discussions’ in the latest round of negotiations and the deal is now believed to be done. Varane may have to quarantine before he is able to start training with United. United have been working on a deal for Varane for over a month, having expressed their firm interest in the France international midway through last season.

Reports claims Real president Florentino Perez is now willing to let Raphael Varane depart. Firstly, he knows he is unable to match the package United are offering. It is reported that Perez feels Varane’s game would suffer without Sergio Ramos alongside him and with Perez unwilling to lose him on a free next summer, his sale to United should soon be finalised.

Varane will sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford after leaving the Los Blancos for 10 years of service. Real Madrid decided to sell Varane after the defender refused to sign a contract extension with Los Blancos. His contract with Madrid was set to expire next summer and he would’ve left the Spanish capital as a free agent, so Madrid decided to sell him instead. It seems clear that Madrid will not sign a replacement for him in the market, so Alaba, Militao, Nacho and either Vallejo, Chust or Gila will be the team’s centre-backs for the 2021-2022 season.

Raphael Varane set to join Manchester United soon

Varane’s salary at Real stand at €6m per year. As per the Spanish network, Varane is currently on a package worth £170,000 a week. United have offered double the salary he receives at Real. That £340,000 a week deal will put the defender among their highest earners. Only David De Gea is believed to earn more at the club.

Varane is one of the world’s top defenders, having joined Real from French side Lens in the summer of 2011. He has gone on to make over 350 appearances for the club, and be capped 79 times by France, helping them to World Cup glory in 2018.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team ended 2nd in the premier league last season, just 12 points short from Manchester City. United will be looking to strengthen their defense with Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane to get the starts. United also lost to Villareal in the Europa League finals in the penalty shootouts.
