Real Madrid Transfer News: PSG and Manchester United set to compete for this star defender

Raphael Varane is reportedly set to leave Real Madrid this season with Manchester United & PSG eager to sign the defender. Real Madrid are set to lose both their starting centre-backs this summer, with Raphael Varane joining Sergio Ramos on his way out of Santiago Bernabeu. After making a return at the club, Carlo Ancelotti tried to convince the 28-year old’s agent but it seems like the player isn’t convinced.

Varane will make his choice between Manchester United & PSG. Both the clubs have been heavily linked with the defender in the past. Varane has a year left in his contract with Los Blancos side. The Daily Star reported that he has rejected the offer of a two-year extension to his contract, though he is refusing to comment on any matters related to his situation until Euro 2020 is over.

Madrid came with a number of offers before but the club’s financial situation due to the pandemic raised no questions to increase the wages of the French defender. According to FootMercato, Varane was unhappy because the club’s president chose to negotiate with players like Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez, Sergio Ramos over him. Varane rejected a two-year contract extension deal with Real, which suggests that the 28 year old is surely leaving this summer.

According to Mario Torrejon, a reliable journalist working for Cadena SER and Real Madrid live, the French centre-back will leave Madrid with a year left on his contract with the club. Negotiations have also not reached anywhere between the two parties, and it now looks like Madrid will receive a transfer fee for him this very summer.
