“We’ll have a look now”: Robin Gosens flattered on interests from FC Barcelona

German left back Robin Gosens is seemingly ‘flattered’ by transfer rumours linking him to La Liga giants FC Barcelona. Now that Germany have been eliminated from Euro 2020 in the Round-of-16 against England, Robin Gosens can ponder over his future by considering the list of his potential suitors. But from what he said in a recent interview with Sport1, it can be understood that he is open to a move to Camp Nou.

The Atalanta defender had an excellent spell in Euro 2020, at the individual level. He scored a goal and provided an assist in Germany’s second group stage match against Portugal and helped them defeat the defending Champions. Although Die Mannschaft failed to go far in the tournament, Robin Gosens has made his mark and is now wanted by clubs all over Europe.

FC Barcelona are currently in search of a left back to replace their ageing defender Jordi Alba. With Alba being linked with a move to Serie A side Inter, Robin Gosens might prove to be his perfect replacement. Reports say that Barca are keeping an eye on both Robin Gosens and Valencia left back Jose Gaya.

Amidst the transfer rumours, Gosens told Sport1: “We’ll have a look now. Already during the European Championship I told my dad that he should just leave me alone with the topic.

“Now I’m back home again, I’ll talk to him and see if something is on the program.

“I’m not lying when I say that I don’t know anything about it at the moment. My entire focus was on the Euros.

“When something happens, let’s see.”

He credited Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini for his good Euro 2020 form, saying: “He had a great influence on it and these qualities that seem to have slumbered in me a bit were tickled out of me with the game system in Bergamo.”
