Antoine Griezmann’s priority is to stay in Spain: Matteo Moretto reports amid Serie A links

According to Calciomercato reporter Matteo Moretto, FC Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann has prioritized staying in Spain and will not hear offers from other Leagues. “Antoine Griezmann’s priority is to stay in Spain. At the moment the Frenchman does NOT open either the Premier or Serie A or other Leagues,” the reporter tweeted earlier today.

FC Barcelona are in a hurry to reduce their wage bills in order to enlist their new four new signings (namely Serio Aguero, Eric Garcia, Emerson Royal and Memphis Depay), and they are thus trying to offload any player they can. The Blaugrana initially wished to keep the Frenchman after his incredible contribution to the club last season but as none of the other players want to leave, President Joan Laporta is not left with a choice.

After days of reluctance, Antoine Greizmann is finally open to a move out of Camp Nou, but he insists on staying in Spain, which leaves his former side Atletico Madrid as the only viable option. Last week, there were rumours of a possible swap deal of Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, but the talks have now died. Atletico Madrid wanted FC Barcelona to pay a part of Antoine Griezmann’s wage which is unacceptable for Barca.

It is now sure that Joan Laporta wants to get rid of the french striker as his inability to do so will result in Barcelona failing to adhere to LaLiga’s salary cap, and moving other players on could be more difficult.

How Much does Antoine Griezmann earn at FC Barcelona

However, a rather contradictory report claims that FC Barcelona are in talks with Juventus for a swap deal between Antoine Griezmann and Paolo Dybala. The Argentine midfielder’s wages, though very high as per Serie A standards, are meagre when compared to Antoine Griezmann’s. Griezmann earns a hefty salary of € 45,834,000 per year compared to Paolo Dybala’s €14,350,000. Paolo Dybala (27) is also 3 years younger than Antoine Griezmann, which gives him an instant advantage over the Frenchman.

It will be interesting to see whether Antoine Griezmann agrees to a move out of Spain against his will or he stays at FC Barcelona for one more season. In that case, however, Barca MUST find a way to offload some other players. The upcoming season of La Liga commences on 13th August and the Catalan giants need to act fast.
