Arsenal had a dreadful season finishing 8th in the league. They missed out on European Championships for the first time in 25 years. Arsenal had problems in the offense with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang & Alexandre Lacazette lacking creativity.
Aubameyang struggled in front of the goal, scoring 15 times in 2020-21 season for the Gunners. The former Borussia Dortmund striker had a sensational run of form in the previous two seasons finding the net 29 times in 2019-20 season.
Andre Silva had a brilliant season for Frankfurt scoring 28 goals and also setting up 7 goals for the club. He finished 2nd in Bundesliga scoring table behind Robert Lewandoski. Andre Silva is currently in Portugal’s squad for Euro 2020. He only moved to Germany on a permanent basis last summer after initially impressing on-loan with the German club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Andre Silva opens up on a possible move to Arsenal
Speaking last month, Silva admitted that he is unsure whether he will remain at Eintracht Frankfurt for another season.
“Nobody knows what will happen in the future,” he said.
“I live in the present and it feels very good right now.”
As per the Transfer Window Podcast, featuring journalists Ian McGarry and Duncan Castles – the latter who first broke the Ruben Neves news – Arsenal have opened talks with Silva’s representatives to express their interest. They’re keen, but so are RB Leipzig, and Frankfurt would let him leave for €40M.
It is reported that Arsenal are thinking to offload their 30-year-old striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer. The Gunners are struggling with his £200k per week salary. Arsenal have also informed the Portuguese striker that they need to get rid of the 30-year-old before signing him.
Meanwhile it is reported that RB Leipzig is also interested in signing Andre Silva but the striker’s first preference is Premier League.
The 25-year-old might be Arsenal’s new goal getter with Martin Odegaard returning to Real Madrid. Mikel Arteta looks to bring in James Maddison and Aaron Ramsdale to reshape his squad before entering the 2021-22 season.
