Barcelona’s poor run of form in La Liga is balanced with the winning spree in the Champions League. The Catalan outfit won their last fixture against Dynamo Kyiv 2-1 at home with goals coming from club captain Lionel Messi and veteran defender Gerard Pique. However, the star of yesterday’s show was the returning Marc-Andre Ter Stegen who committed to all the shots and made sure Barca secures the 3-points.

Koeman remarked about last night in a post-match interview, as per Marca. Messi provided an early advantage in Barca’s favor concerting the penalty in the 5th minute but could not extend the lead. The Dutch boss pointed out that there were more chances to score against Kyiv which were not utilized properly. Koeman lauded Ter Stegen for being a constant between the sticks turning down good attempts towards the goal. The gaffer was critical of his team’s performance without the ball defensively.

Koeman brought up the pressing strategy, which requires the whole squad to act together but in turn, the defense line becomes high and creates a danger to concede goals. He also praised the opponents for creating a number of goal threats against them which shows why their defending was mediocre. Koeman tried to make an instant impact at the club but is gradually trying to make his presence known. Barcelona will try to rise from 8 points in 6 matches in the league to successive wins. They currently sit 9 points behind league leader Real Sociedad and 8 points behind bitter rivals Real Madrid.
