Barcelona is trying to improve the club with changes to the structure and squad depth. Veteran players left Barca this summer to be replaced by blooming new talents. Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia, has failed to provide talents for the past few seasons. Sergio Busquets, Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, and Sergi Roberto all came through the ranks of La Masia. However, it has been quite a while since any youngster showed their potential from the youth academy.
Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig broke into the first team last season grabbing the opportunity to represent themselves for Barcelona in the club competitions. Fati has carried his form to the start of the new season as he scored a brace in the opening match in La Liga. He also bagged a goal in Koeman’s second competitive match against Celta Viga at Balaidos. The Dutch manager has been essential in implementing the model of securing potential future stars from across Europe.
