IPL 2020: Virender Sehwag’s message after CSK’s poor batting performance and Kohli’s innings

Chennai Super Kings continued with their dismal performance in the IPL 2020, as the batting order again failed to deliver on Saturday. CSK lost the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 37 runs.

While chasing the target of 170 runs, CSK got off to a bad start with Faf Du Plessis walking back to the Pavillion in only the fourth over, with CSK only scoring 19 runs by then. Ambati Rayudu and Narayan Jagadeesan tried to consolidate the innings with a cautious approach. Both of them stitched together a 64 runs partnership for the third wicket before Jagadeesan got run out for 33.

IPL 2020: Virender Sehwag slammed CSK’s poor batting performance.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag criticised the CSK team for their poor performance with the bat. Sehwag wrote on Twitter, “Feel sad for Chennai fans. This was a team that fought & teams used to be wary till the end. Have been very disappointing especially with d bat, leaving it for too late.”

Sehwag also lauded captain Virat Kohli for his incredible knock against CSK. Virat Kohli put on a show of perfect technique and fitness levels, scored 90 runs off 52 balls and took RCB to a competitive total. “Kohli was extra special today. Many batsmen can learn how to not get bogged down, played only 5 dots,” Sehwag tweeted.

CSK also faced criticism from the fans as they failed to accelerate. Both Rayudu and Jagadeesan were unable to hit the big shots and score quickly. CSK could only manage to score 132 runs, as they continued with their poor performance in UAE.

One of the most consistent teams in the IPL, CSK have now lost 5 out of the 7 games in IPL 2020. If CSK needs to qualify for the playoffs, then they have to start winning in the second half of the tournament. They will now face the Sunrisers Hyderabad on 13 October at Dubai International Stadium.
