IPL 2020: Kevin Pietersen’s reaction against Ambati Rayudu for his slow knock against RCB

IPL 2020: Chennai Super Kings continued with their dismal performance in the IPL 2020, as the batting order again failed to deliver on Saturday. CSK lost the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 37 runs.

One of the most consistent teams in the IPL, CSK have now lost 5 out of the 7 games in IPL 2020. If CSK needs to qualify for the playoffs, then they have to start winning in the second half of the tournament. They will now face the Sunrisers Hyderabad on 13 October at Dubai International Stadium. They have to mount a comeback in the second phase of the tournament, to qualify for the playoffs.

CSK’s batting order again failed to sustain the pressure of the required run rate. They showed no intent at all while chasing a target of 170 runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They could score only 132 runs in the 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. CSK batsmen have failed to accelerate right from the start of the chase.

The required run-rate kept on increasing, and CSK failed to manage the climbing run rate. Former England international, Kevin Pietersen is not at all impressed with Ambati Rayudu’s running between the wickets during the match.

Rayudu arrived in the crease in the fourth over and got out in the 18th over. The right-hander showed no intent at all despite being in the crease for such a long time. He managed to score only 42 runs in 40 deliveries.

Pietersen spoke against Rayudu for not even trying to show interest in taking the second run in the eighth over of the innings. His partner had already finished the first run and was trying to go for the second. On the other hand, Rayudu had even not completed his first run.

“Ambati Rayudu needs to wake up a little bit. You see the best players in the world, they run between the wickets, they push the sweepers hard. When you are chasing these kinds of numbers, I don’t care who you are, you have to watch the best and the best sprint between the wickets,” Kevin Pietersen said on-air.

“Watch Kohli, watch de Villiers, watch du Plessis, Warner, Bairstow, they set the standards, you’ve got to follow,” he added.
