Everton midfielder James Rodriguez is likely to join AC Milan this summer. AC Milan are searching for an attacking midfielder to replace Hakan Calhanoglu who joined city rivals Inter Milan few days back. The 29-year-old Columbian was unhappy after Carlo Ancelotti rejoined Real Madrid. Ancelotti was one of the main reasons why Rodriguez chose Everton.
Interviewed by Il Giornale, Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the idea of his pupil James Rodriguez making the move to try an experience in Italy with his old club Milan.
“He is a very pure talent, a great player. He had some physical problems and his contribution to the cause has therefore been reduced,” he said.

Rodriguez is the ‘latest idea’ that the club’s management are exploring, according to Corriere Della Sera, although it is too early to ‘draw conclusions’ at this point.
James Rodriguez feels ‘Orphaned’
The newspaper says that the Colombian ‘feels orphaned’ at Everton after Carlo Ancelotti’s move to Real Madrid, and that has opened up the door to a move.
La Nazione backs up the report and states that Milan’s contact with Jorge Mendes, who represents James Rodriguez, is where the idea is coming from.
Things did not go in the way what the Columbian had planned for. Due to his injuries he failed to impress the fans at Goodison park. He scored 6 goals and 4 assists in 23 league appearances for the club. It was also reported that the Columbian had some problems with the weather in England & was one of the reasons for him not performing up his potential.
According to the latest from Corriere Della Sera (via Milan News), Milan are in the market to try and secure a new No.10 who is a big name and would guarantee quality, and in this regard they have had talks with agent Jorge Mendes over James Rodriguez.
The Collumbian has been offered to AC Milan
Jorge Mendes is also the agent of Milan’s striker Rafael Leao who is likely to leave the Rossoneri’s this summer. It may be possible that Mendes plans for an exchange deal to bring the Columbian at San Siro. It is also reported that Leao is keen to make a move to England this summer.
According to Calciomerato, James Rodriguez plans to prove his worth back at San Siro after a forgetful season at Everton. A move to Milan would be perfect for the 29-year-old as he would perfectly fit into Stefano Pioli’s 4-2-3-1 formation. Milan is a perfect destination for the Columbian as the Rossoneri’s will play the Champions League football after 7 years. The Rossoneri’s ranked 2nd in Serie A this season with 79 points in total.
According to the Columbian journalist Diego Rueda, the Rossoneri’s have been offered the chance to sign the 29-year-old from Everton, presumably by his agent Jorge Mendes who the club met with last week. But the Rossoneri’s are yet to make a response to the deal offered. They will first see what the situation with Chelsea’s striker Oliver Giroud is before accepting Mendes’s deal for James Rodriguez.
