Barcelona receive €18m loan-to-buy offer for defender

Barcelona overcame the unrest and look forward to the summer transfer window. The Blaugrana have been successful in raising funds by selling off Nelson Semedo to Wolverhampton Wolves for €40 million. Also, the club is saving some of the wage bills after letting go of club veterans who held huge weight on the salary.

Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, and Luis Suarez all left Barca as they were unwanted by current manager Ronald Koeman. The newly-appointed gaffer looks to make considerable;e changes to the squad and rebuilding it. Barcelona wants a strong comeback after finishing trophyless last season. Koeman has selected his squad after the pre-season performances.

Barcelona postpones future plans

Barcelona is not economically stable to spend big in this transfer break. The coronavirus pandemic has affected many top European clubs financially. Barca spent a lot on subsequent transfers of Antoinne Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho, and Ousmane Dembele. Hence, they need to postpone their plans to sign Lautaro Martinez. However, Barca can go on to bring in former La Masia graduate Eric Garcia.

Barcelona board already announced they are open to offers for their players. Hence, Everton is aiming to land Jean-Clair Todibo. The defender seems surplus to the requirement of Ronald Koeman. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barca has received a loan offer with an option to sign the player permanently. The Toffees agreed to play €18 million for the French youngster.

Todibo: Premier League bound

Todibo spent his previous season on a loan spell at Bundesliga. His performances were not at all impressive for Schalke. He made only 10 appearances after being sidelined due to injury. The 20-year-old shows ample potential but is inconsistent due to physical fitness. Everton eventually wanted to sign Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea but Frank Lampard declared him unavailable.
