KKR News: The former Australian Chinaman, Brad Hogg played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2015-16 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Earlier this month, he stated that the rift between Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russel could harm KKR going into the 13th edition of the IPL.
The rumours of a sour relationship between Russel and Karthik came to limelight after the former’s press conference post the Rajasthan Royals (RR) match. Although Karthik has stated that his difference of opinion with Russel has been sorted, there is still some uncertainty over the relationship between both of them.
The KKR fans and the teammates are worried about the rift between both these players. They feel that if things don’t get good between them, it can harm the team in this year’s IPL. However, the former Australia batsman and current KKR mentor, David Hussey has denied the reports of any such conversations in recent team interactions. “There is no rift or anything there. Actually, I think there is a bit of bromance there, and they are pretty close, which is fantastic for the group. Karthik is a straightforward person who backs his teammates to get the job done. It’s a good sign of leadership. He is high maintenance at times because he loves the game of cricket. There is no malice… he only cares about winning the game,” Hussey said in an interview to The Indian Express.

The KKR mentor also said that the duo of Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik will guide KKR to good results on the field. Morgan is himself one of the best limited-overs captains currently. He will surely make the job of Karthik easier. The added firepower of Andre Russel as a finisher will serve as a boon for the team as it has always been.
“Morgan is a classy-middle order player. Along with DK, I am sure it will be a fantastic partnership on the field. DK from behind the stumps and Morgan can be sort of the vice-captain and help the bowlers out in certain situations. He will fit in perfectly,” Hussey concluded. (KKR News)
The IPL 2020 will kickstart on September 19. Mumbai Indians (MI) will face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first match in Abu Dhabi. KKR will play their first match of the tournament on September 23 against the Mumbai Indians. (KKR News)
