Sunil Gavaskar Wants This Player To Be The KKR Captain Inplace Of Dinesh Karthik

KKR IPL 2020: The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has already started. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the inaugural match of the IPL 2020. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) looks like a very balanced outfit ahead of the start of the IPL 2020. KKR has won the IPL title 2 times. They will be looking ahead for their third IPL title this season. The last time, they became the IPL champion in 2014, when they defeated the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the finals.

Recently, Sunil Gavaskar talked about the captaincy duties of Dinesh Karthik in the KKR lineup. Gavaskar feels that KKR team management can make the England limited-overs captain, Eoin Morgan, the captain of KKR if the team does not perform well in the first half of the tournament. (KKR IPL 2020)

“Kolkata Knight Riders is such a team that has a very attractive and aggressive batting order. But the addition of Eoin Morgan to the middle-order has added more stability and experience to it. Thus, he can prove to be very dangerous.

“Even this can happen that if in the first four-five games if KKR does not start well, then Eoin Morgan can replace Dinesh Karthik as the captain of the side because we always have had that complex,” Gavaskar said to Sports Tak. (KKR IPL 2020)

Gavaskar also talked about the Australian Pace bowler Pat Cummins. KKR bought Pat Cummins in the IPL 2020 auction for a whopping price of 15.5 crores INR. He was the most expensive buy-in the auction. According to Gavaskar, Cummins could feel the pressure of such a huge price tag and his performance could suffer in IPL 2020.

“KKR has the biggest T20 player in Andre Russell, but they also have the costliest player in Pat Cummins. In the recently concluded limited-overs series between Australia and England, his performance was not impressive. So there will be some kind of pressure on him,” the former Indian skipper opined. “Whenever you are a costly player, the weight of the price tag is always there. Will he play all the matches? that is also something that we will need to look at,” he added
